Antenna Hungária launched the transmission of digital terrestrial television programs from the Hármashatár-hegy tower in Budapest

As of June 11, 2010 Antenna Hungária launched its digital television transmitter located on Hármashatár-hegy, hence enabling to receive the 
MinDig TV and MinDig TV Extra digital terrestrial television services from three sites in Budapest.

Today Antenna Hungária (AH) successfully launched the digital terrestrial television transmission from the Hármashatár-hegy tower. The new transmitter is operated in SFN (Single Frequency Network) mode with the Széchenyi-hegy and Száva utca transmitting stations. In order to ensure the best utilization of the frequency range, the programs are available on the same frequencies from all of the three sites in Budapest (746 and 802 MHz).

With this Antenna Hungária offers an additional possibility to the viewers in Budapest – especially to those, living in North-Buda, North-Pest and near to the River Danube – to receive the MinDig TV and MinDig TV Extra signals eventually by optimizing the orientation of the reception antenna.

MinDig TV, the digital terrestrial television service offers a unique opportunity for the football-fans, MinDig TV viewers can watch all of the South-African Football World Cup matches starting from June 11, 2010 on the public m1 HD and m2 HD channels in HD quality, without a subscription fee.

According to the issued radio licences, the maximum Effective Radiated Power (ERP) is around 9 kW on both multiplexes. After the significant power increase regarding the existing two Budapest-based digital sites in February, the launch of the Hármashatár-hegy digital transmission enables even better reception conditions of the digital terrestrial television services for the citizens living in the Budapest area.
